The investigator said Tyler believed his mother came from a "covenant of witches" and was practicing witchcraft. "I just gave up. I don't need her to validate me," he said about his mother. Dazey also told the investigator his mother's injuries came from witchcraft.

Tyler Dazey was charged with first-degree murder after his mother was found murdered and beaten inside her Iowa home. When police discovered Jennifer Dazey dead, she had brutal injuries to her head, neck, and face. Tyler Dazey allegedly told police that his mother was practicing witchcraft before murdering Jennifer and the family dog. Dazey could face up to life behind bars if convicted. The 28-year-old was deemed competent for trial after a series of evaluations.
