Rosanna from Hammersmith told LBC that as these political figures continue to reach for greater power and wealth, ‘nothing will ever be enough’.
“It's like reaching the top level in a video game, but you've actually beaten the game,” Rosanna said.
“And then what? And then there's this nothingness.”
In response, James O’Brien agreed with Rosanna’s assessment, saying her call was “touching an awful lot” of listeners “very powerfully”.
He also suggested now was the time to “park your resistance to hyperbole” amid an incredibly fraught public debate.
“I spoke a lot last week about normality bias on one side and a fear of hyperbole on the other,” James said.
“But there comes a time when actually things are as bad as you think.”
