The latest example of our history being erased and replaced with a modern idea of diversity is this: Joan of Arc is going to be played by a black woman. This is nonsensical. The only time Joan of Arc was black was after she'd been burnt at the stake.

The creators - or enshittifiers - of this play breathlessly claim to be "shaking institutions". As if! No, they're doing the same thing done by every instition, enforced by every institution. They're not being edgy or dangerous or subversive or pushing back against accepted norms when they do this. They're literally doing the only thing you're allowed to do if you want to get your arts council grant ticked off.
