Reactions on the left to the war with Iran were entirely predictable. After months of silence as the regime slaughtered thousands of its own citizens, the leftists found some deaths in Iran they could get upset about.

Starting with the Ayatollah. He was remembered by everyone from Mohammad Sarwar (that's Anas Sarwar's dad and a former Labour MP himself) to Green Party Deputy Mothin Ali - who insists that the rally he attended wasn’t venerating the Ayatollah, but was an anti-war rally. Yeah, nothing says you reject violence more than chants of "DEATH TO THE WEST!"

(And it’s rather alarming that a senior leader in a British political party attended a rally chanting for the extermination of Britain.)

University College London Islamic Society didn't just venerate the Ayatollah; they also urged British Muslims to be "aware and ready" for the "resistance". Maybe they're steered by their Islamist funding, but it was ironic (and a sign of where Britain is headed) that they banned a feminist speaker at the same time as they gloried in the Ayatollah.

The left has certainly changed.

Other leftists called for synagogues to be roasted, and I don't think they meant taking the synagogue to a comedy club for its personal shortcomings to be addressed in an amusing manner.
