On Thursday, former President Donald Trump presented himself to authorities in Fulton County, Georgia, confronting felony charges associated with alleged endeavors to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election in collaboration with his associates.
Trump's arrival at Fulton County Jail occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. EDT, with his presence marked by a motorcade evoking memories of his presidential tenure. As per jail records, he underwent customary booking protocols, involving processes like fingerprinting and mugshot photography. Subsequently, after fulfilling bond requirements, video footage captured Trump's departure from the facility.
Preceding his surrender, Trump utilized his Truth Social platform to comment on the situation, revealing, "I have to start getting ready to head down to Atlanta, Georgia" to face arrest by District Attorney Fani Willis, whom he referred to as a "Radical Left, Lowlife District Attorney." The specified arrest time was 7:30 p.m.
Trump is confronting 13 felony charges that encompass allegations such as conspiracy to commit forgery, filing false documents, solicitation of the violation of an oath by a public officer, and violation of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
In total, 19 defendants, including former Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, were implicated in this case. They were granted until noon on Friday to surrender at the Rice Street jail.
