Chair of the committee, Senator Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, joins Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to talk about the fraud and possible legislative efforts to stop it.
The Minnesota legislature continues to work towards agreement on measures to stop opioid abuse and overdose as well as to raise money for the myriad costs that arise from this epidemic. Senator Chris Eaton, DFL-Brooklyn Center, provides her personal, professional and legislative perspective on the issue.
According to NBC news, twenty-one states have cracked down on people who pass off their pets as service animals, and Minnesota is now among them. Senator Justin Eichorn, R-Grand Rapids, authored a bill which was signed into law that makes it a crime to misrepresent a pet as a service animal. The new law takes effect August 1, 2018.
