16:13Now PlayingThe heavy snowfall this winter is causing considerable hardships for many farmers, and the Minnesota Senate approved a bill Thursday, March 14, that would expand the disaster recovery loan program to help famers financially recover from buildings and equipment damaged by heavy snow, sleet, or ice.
Sponsored by Senator Michael Goggin, R-Red Wing, the bill provides the Rural Finance Authority the ability to expedite emergency loans. The damage, according to Goggin, hit farmers hard in Southeaster Minnesota, but also extended throughout the state as heavy snowfalls continue to devastate farm property.
