30:10Now PlayingThe Minnesota Senate is set to debate the omnibus E-12 education and transportation funding bills during their Wednesday, May 1, floor session.
The Senate E-12 education bill would spend almost $20 billion dollars over the next two years, and includes a half percent increase on the per pupil formula each year. It also provides funds for the safe schools levy, literacy programs and early learning scholarships.
The transportation spending bill allocates over $6 billion dollars over two years with $2.5 billion dollars directed to road construction projects. Unlike the House plan, the Senate plan does not increase the gas tax, license tab fees or sales tax.
