24:09Now PlayingJust prior to the convening of the 2022 legislative session, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan visited the Senate and House Chambers to offer members the choice of a lemon bar or a Scotcheroo. "The Lieutenant Governor and I are here today to start this thing out on a sweet note, handing out some bars," Walz said in reference to the opening day of session. "We're here to get the work done. We have some real golden opportunities across a lot of priorities...and to see them start that first day, it's the rejuvenating of democracy," he added.
Immediately following the Senate's opening session, Senate Majority Leader Jeremy Miller also spoke with the media. "We're hearing from folks all across the state that crime is up, kids are falling behind in the classroom, record inflation is eating away at family budgets. We are laser focus on putting Minnesota back on the right track. We are looking forward to working with our colleagues on both side of the aisle, both chambers as well as the governor's office..."
