Question: I plan to sell my property in Jaipur. The buyer is suggesting that he will make initial payments and will then give me post-dated cheques. He wants his name to be registered in the property along with the post-dated cheques. Is it advisable to enter into such an arrangement?
Answer: This is not advisable. While what the buyer is saying seems fair, there are many areas which may require you to litigate to recover the money. Further cancellation will require both parties to execute the deed. Will the buyer agree in future? Stick to cash. How to fund it by borrowing, is the buyers’ problem. Don’t enter any registered deed that could result in payment defaults.
