The Central government launched ‘Housing for All by 2022’ to address the estimated shortage of 20,000 million of housing units across the country.
According to government data, 860 projects along with 7.28 lakh housing units have been approved by the Housing Ministry till July 2016. Only 19,300 affordable homes have been constructed till date under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana over the last year.
