7:02Now PlayingAs India struggles to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the recent surge in cases has led to a shortage of hospital beds in Delhi and Mumbai. The governments of the metro cities are sending notices to private hospitals for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, of whom many are reluctant to commit these beds. The Delhi Government has ordered the reservation of 40% beds in 61 hospitals in the NCR region while in Mumbai notices have been issued to four private hospitals after they refused to reserve these beds. Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia put out a statement regarding the same saying that the Delhi Government was looking to turn several hospitals into completely COVID-19 facilities. He also assured the people that if someone approached hospitals for treatment of other diseases and conditions they would not be turned away or refused.
