11:45Now PlayingThe fire raging from Baghjan Gas Well in Assam’s Tinsukia district continues to erupt. The blaze can be seen from a distance of 30 kilometres. 2 firefighters succumbed to death whereas 2 sustained to minor injuries. Experts from Singapore landed on Assam to probe the situation on the ground. The Oil India Limited issued a statement saying that compensation will be given to the employees who are affected by this tragic incident.
Trideep Hararika from Oil Gas Limites says, ‘The fire as of now is only at the wellhead. The periphery fire was contained in the early morning hours today. As for what sparked the fire, it may be the weather conditions on that day, but experts are still gauging the cause’.
