3:04Now PlayingThe Karnataka government has banned online classes for students from kindergarten and primary school till 5th standard, following complaints by several parents and mental health experts. The government is mulling an extension of the ban till Class 7. The ban is on live virtual classes as well as on pre-recorded classes. The government has noted that collecting fees for these classes must also be stopped by schools immediately. Earlier, experts from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) had recommended that children under six years of age should not be exposed to more than one hour of screen time. For classes 6 and above, a committee comprising experts will be formed and a decision will be taken after it submits recommendations.
