Like eveyone else in that part of India, Sepoy Gurtej Singh wanted to go abroad. But two years ago, he had a sudden change of heart. He wanted to serve the nation. His farmer father recounts how being a farmer in the Beerewala Dogra village wasn't enough for Sepoy Gurtej. He wanted to be like his uncle, who served in forces and took part in the Kargil war. He was the kid brother amongst three siblings. But On Monday, Gurtej fought like a lion and laid down his life defending the honour of the nation he always wanted to serve.
