2:05Now PlayingThe CBI has launched an FIR against Videocon’s MD Venugopal Dhoot for cheating the consortium of Indian PSU banks led by State Bank of India. CBI in its probe found out that instead of paying $650 Million as part of sales proceed, banks paid $705.45 Million; Banks took over the charge of oil and gas assets only in November’13 and somehow paid more than the agreement.
Venugopal is now charged under ‘Wrongful’ loss to banks and irregularities in the acquisition of oil and gas assets. The CBI has further alleged that its preliminary enquiry has revealed that the VIL used the funds available from SCB for some other purposes or siphoned the same in some other accounts of Videocon or its promoters.
