2:37Now PlayingDefence Acquisition Council has cleared proposals worth ₹ 38900 Crores out of which acquisitions worth ₹ 31130 Crores would be from the Indian Industries. The projects include ammunitions for the Pinaka Rocket launchers, the BMP combat launchers’ upgrades, software-defined radios for the army.
The Defence Ministry has also approved proposals for 33 new fighter aircraft from Russia. This includes 12 SUKHOI-30 MKIs and 21 MIG-29s along with an up-gradation of 59 existing MIG-29s. The total cost of the project would be around ₹ 18,000 plus crores. This move was taken after the surging Indi-China tension.
