Lockdown began in Tamil Nadu on 24th March and strict traffic rules were imposed control movement of people.
Special e-pass have to be acquired to travel within districts which is still in effect.
E-pass were only provided for 3 reasons which were medical emergency, to attend a marriage function or to attend a funeral.
People were only allowed to travel within 2 km radius from their residence or else they will have to pay a fine of ₹600 and their vehicle will be seized and released only after 4 days.
Unfortunately, several people didn’t follow rules leading to ₹ 16.92 crore collected as fine amount.
7.28 lakh violation cases were registered and 6.09 lakh vehicles were seized.
