After Madras Highcourt Madurai Bench intervention, Tamilnadu CBCID initiated an investigation and arrested 5 policemen from Sathankulam police station in relation to the case.
CBCID IG Shankar also mentioned that investigation is still occurring.
Meanwhile, CBI issued notification and an FIR filed to investigate to FIRs viz, Crime No. 649 and Crime No. 650 which were filed with Kovilpatti Police Station after the death of Bennicks and Jayaraj.
CBCID was questioning 22 policemen who were present during 19th June when Jayaraj and Bennicks were arrested and brought to Sathankulam Police station.
Police Constable Revathi who was also present was the person who informed Kovilpatti Judicial Magistrate about Police brutality and her statement was recorded.
Judicial Magistrate also stated that CCTV console was set in such a way that the footage will auto-erase every 24hr.
CBCID was also propping these angles and had questioned 10 of the 22 Policemen who were present then.
CBCID then had detained Special Sub Inspector Paul Durai, Constables Thomas, Velumuthu, Sellathurai and Saamathurai for questioning based on the witness statement.
