But State Education Minister Sengottaiyan claims that of the 34,400 students who missed the last 12th standard exam, only 718 students wish to write the exams, stoking another controversy. The last paper in the 12th exam was conducted on 24th March, a day after the lockdown was announced which has been scheduled now to be held on the 27th July. Educationists were shocked to find that only 718 students have shown willingness to write the exam. Media reports highlighted that 34,400 students were unable to take it due to the shutting down of public transport. Earlier, State Education Minister constantly announced dates for 10th exams, almost every 15 days, CM Edapadi K Palanisamy announced the cancellation after major outcry due to the large number of people turning positive in the State.
