IMD has issued a red alert in Karnataka as monsoon mayhem is said to wreak havoc in the city. The red alert is issued in seven districts of the state. The red alert has been announced for Udupi, Dakshin Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chikmangaluru, and Shimoga. Coastal regions and the Northern parts of Karnataka bordering Maharashtra and Kodagu have been badly affected due to heavy rainfall. The Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa has released Rs 50 crore for relief and rescue in these areas. In Dharwad, incessant rains have thrown life out of gear and have exposed the poor infrastructure of the Hubli Dharwad road. Several roads have been waterlogged due to incessant rains.
