21 DMK MLAs including MK Stalin took Gutkha, a form of chewing tobacco packets into on 19th July 2017.
The issue was referred to the Privilege committee by Speaker Dhanapal to find out whether it was a breach of privilege.
A proceeding was initiated on 28th August 2017 and show cause notice was issued to Stalin and 20 other DMK MLAs.
Challenging, this DMK MLAs approached Madras Highcourt which after a period of 3 years, took the case for final hearing on 12, 13 and 14th August and on Tuesday set aside the breach of privilege motion.
