The total number of COVID positive cases in the Pune has surpassed the total number of what Mumbai and Delhi ever reported. Currently, the figure reported is 1.86 lakhs of positive cases. There is an absolute collapse in the health infrastructure. The State Government and the local city administration had promised Jumbo facility that would be prepared out of three of them, one is operational.
Wife of the journalist who died at Pune's Jumbo facility, Sheetal Raikar share her case over the Pune COVID crisis, she says "My husband is a victim of this damaged system. There was no proper treatment. There was a lot of miscommunication. They did not even provide him with the tiffin that we sent over."
Maharashtra COVID-19 taskforce member Dr Shashank Joshi says that If the facilities are not up to the mark, they shouldn’t be functioning in the first place. After 4 months, we are back to square 1, where people have to run from pillar to post.
