2:02Now PlayingSupreme Court has recently issued a showcause notice of contempt against the Kerala government. The notice is over the compliance of its earlier 2019 order concerned with the payment of Rs 25 lakhs each to the evicted Maradu flat owners.
The Pinarayi Vijayan government has 4 weeks to respond clarifying if they have complied with the court’s order in letter and spirit. A topic of debate and scrutiny in the Supreme Court itself, the subject matter now remains if the flat owners were in fact compensated or not. The restitution was a result of Supreme Court’s go ahead against the Maradu flat owners wishes of the demolition and the ensuing eviction.
