2:30Now PlayingThe 295-acre Koyambedu market complex containing vegetables, fruits, flowers and pulses section was shut on 5th May after major criticism over lack of social distancing and how it might lead to a COVID-19 supercluster.
After 5 months, the pulses and granary section of the market was open on 18th September and the vegetable section where much public interaction generally occurs will begin to function from 28th September.
Authorities have assured that necessary measures to emphasize social distancing have been taken. Two-wheelers are not allowed and buyers between 50 - 100 kg of vegetables are allowed. Vendors association have also decided to not operate shops which a having below 400 sq ft spread area. Wearing of masks is mandatory though not many were seen following it.
