23:39Now PlayingOn the Urban Debate today, Afrida Ali talks about the ending of a 23 –year-old alliance between the Shiromani Akali Dal and the NDA. The move comes in after the SAD leader Harsimrat Badal resigned from her post over the protests against farm bills.
The SAD says that the alliance has ended over centre’s refusal to give legislative guarantees to protect MSP. The highest decision-making body of the Shiromani Akali Dal decided late last night to exit the alliance. To discuss and analyze the exit of SAD, the panel includes Tuhin Sinha, BJP Spokesperson, Neerja Chowdhury, senior journalist and Maheshinder Singh Grewal of SAD.
Maheshinder Singh Grewal stated that it is very unfortunate that Punjab government never took state peasantry and Punjabis into confidence about the going on meetings of the NDA government. He further adds that SAD has not been there only for the power in Punjab, and if the party only wanted power, it would have been in power since 1992. On being asked if the NDA can afford to lose any more alliance, given that this is the third ally to quit, Tuhin Sinha states that the decision of SAD to pull out is because of some misunderstanding.
