The officials have blocked all the roads to the village and have laid seize on Hathras. The family is not allowed to talk to the media and is practically being held hostage. The eagerness of the UP ADG to dismiss the rape case has outraged everybody. Selective information is being passed on to mislead the media. The UP police are also claiming the entire outrage to be a part of a conspiracy, an evil designed by the media.
Mirror Now reporter Alok Singh, presents us with the grim picture of Hathras. The entire village is barricaded and no one is allowed entry.
“Hathras will go down in history as an episode which tells you that brazenness is a part of official statecraft; lack of sensitivity, lack of compassion, complete disregard for norms is now a part of state policy,” Vinay Tewari, Mirror Now Managing Editor, tells Tanvi.
While the former UP DGP, SVM Tripathi comments, “You cannot, at this stage, say that rape was committed or not. At this stage of the investigation, it may have been much better for anybody not to have given a definitive opinion.” To this, Brinda Adige, Women’s Rights Activist retorts, “All the evidence has been wiped out. Even if you call the S.I.T or CBI, there is nothing government can be proven. This is a criminal act by state agencies including the UP government”
