Mumbai police got a complaint from Hansa agency, the agency which looks after collecting TV ratings for BARC in Mumbai.
Hansa agency told Mumbai police that they were suspicious that the confidential data of monitoring TRP was compromised and shared with news channels.
Mumbai police in its investigation found that some former employees of Hansa agency were sharing the confidential data and they were also approaching individual households and paying them Rs 400/500 for watching these accused channels.
Mumbai police have arrested two formal employees of Hansa agency and owners of Box Cinema and Fakt Marathi.
Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh informed media that everyone involved in the scam is under the scanner, will be interrogated and arrested if required. Managing Editor, Director, promoters and employees of these channels are under the radar.
