4:35Now PlayingL Murugan, BJP President L Murugan was detained along with hundreds of BJP cadres at Thiruthani Murugan temple while attempting to initiate Vel Yatra.
L Murugan had earlier announced that he'll start a Yatra, carrying Vel (sphere), a weapon of choice of Lord Muruga across Tamilnadu.
He stated that he'll visit 'Arupadai Veedu', the six sacred temples dedicated to Lord Muruga through his month-long campaign.
Opposition parties questioned the Yatra and even criticized that it was a move to cause religious disharmony in the State as the Yatra was supposed to be completed on 6th December.
When the matter went to Court, State government categorically said that permissio can't be provided for any such Yatras owing to the pandemic situation.
But granted permission for L Murugan to visit Thiruthani Lord Murugan temple accompanied by 5 vehicles.
Hundreds of BJP cadres gathered at Thiruthani Temple gathered as Murugan reached and were detained after the refused to disperse.
