We as a nation have been waiting desperately for the roll-out of a COVID vaccine now and it seems as if the wait is finally going to get over. Centre appointed an expert panel committee today in order to review the proposal of three vaccine manufacturers to grant emergency use authorization. Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, BioNTech's Pfizer and Serum Institute & Oxford's Covishield were competing against each other. A pan -India dry run will begin in all capital states tomorrow. An emergency nod has been given to SII's vaccine, Covishield. The vaccine has received conditional approval and has been allowed for restricted emergency use. DCGI is yet to give its nod.
Dr. Shashank Joshi states that we will need to clarify from the manufacturers and the regulator on the dosing regimen and the booster, which is the second dose.
