21:35Now PlayingOn The Urban Debate, Sahar Zaman takes up the anti-conversion law debate once again. The conversion law was first brought in the state of Uttar Pradesh, following which Madhya Pradesh also brought in an ordinance for a similar law. A hearing has been going on in the Allahabad High Court, wherein the Uttar Pradesh government has submitted a counter-affidavit, explaining and defining the law and what according to their law is supposed to be called forced-conversion. This comes after various PILs have been filed, challenging the new law. The government has stated that the ordinance needs to be understood better.
BJP's Anila Singh states that the Anti-conversion law is not new to our country and has been present since 1978. She further adds that Arunachal Pradesh had it first and almost 8 other states have it. Anila Singh also questions why is Uttar Pradesh being targeted.
