9:31Now PlayingIn a tragic incident from Maharashtra's Bhandara district, 10 infants were killed in their sleep in a hospital fire that broke out in the newborn care unit of the District General Hospital. The fire broke out at 2 AM in the morning. Seven infants were rescued from the spot out of 17. The other infants died because of the hospital fire.
All of these infants were less than 3 months old. The cause of the fire in the building is yet to be ascertained, but it could have been a result of a short circuit. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
The National Commission for Child Rights Protection seeks probe on hospital fire and writes to Bhandara District Collector.
