1:40Now PlayingBharat Biotech’s homegrown COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin has shown an interim vaccine efficacy of 81% in late stages clinical trials, said Hyderabad-based company.
The trials involved 25, 800 participants and were conducted in partnership with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
“Covaxin demonstrates high clinical efficacy trend against COVID-19 but also significant immunogenicity against the rapidly emerging variants.” said the Bharat Biotech chairman Krishna Ella.
Leaders such as president Ramnath Kovind, prime minister Narendra Modi, health minister Harsh Vardhan, defence minister Rajnath Singh, external affair minister S. Jaishankar and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad have also been vaccinated through Covaxin.
