2:30Now PlayingOn Thursday, officials from the Income Tax Department searched properties linked to E.V. Velu, a prominent DMK leader in Tamil Nadu. The searches started early in the morning and covered a number of locations related to Velu, who is located in the Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu. The raids were allegedly related to "credible inputs of cash movement" during the election campaign, according to officials.
DMK chief M.K. Stalin was campaigning for Velu in Tiruvannamalai, Velu's constituency, while I-T department officials searched locations associated with him. Velu is a sitting MLA from Tiruvannamalai who is running for re-election on April 6th. Velu is a five-term MLA who has served as the state's food minister. Searches were also conducted at Velu's college, where Stalin was said to have stayed the night before.
