In the last six years, the tax on fuel has surged by over 30%. But, as the Central and State Government argue over GST on fuel, the common citizens of India suffer immensely.
What is the prime solution to this problem? Is it time to bring fuel under GST? Why is there no relief even when crude prices go down? Why is the Central Government not taking the lead?
Objecting to the idea of bringing fuel under GST, JDS' TR Prasad Gowda says that ‘If the government brings fuel under GST, it will be a burden on the dealers & the customers’. Whereas NCP's Mahesh Chavan reiterates saying ‘Maharashtra government never increased taxes the way Central government has’.
