An FIR has been filed against Sulthana as she called the federal territory’s administration a ‘bioweapon’ during a TV debate. The case against Sultana was registered at a police station in Lakshadweep’s main island Kavaratti on a complaint by a local politician belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party claiming that she gave a hate speech against the Central Government. The Lakshadweep islands are popular among the best tourist places and are run by an administrator appointed by the Indian president. It is one of the smallest among India’s eight “Union Territories”, with a population of approx 65,000 people.
