Mukul Roy used to be the Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s closest aide at the time of serving period in TMC before joining BJP. CM Mamata is going to hold a news briefing shortly after Mukul meets her at the Trinamool Bhavan. Roy joined BJP in 2017. As per sources, Mukul Roy wasn’t happy with the BJP and will disclose its reasons when the time will be right. Speculations also have something to do with Abhishek Banerjee’s meeting with Roy’s family while they were recovering from covid at a private hospital. In addition to this, Mukul Roy’s son appreciated this gesture of Mamata Banerjee for helping his mother. Also, during the alleged post-poll violence raised by BJP, Roy maintained his silence and was all quiet. Putting all these incidents suggest that this defecting decision has been a build-up for quite some time.
