1:50Now PlayingJune 14, the first day of unlocking in Bengaluru Urban, the day started off with drizzle playing spoilsport for many roadside vendors. At Nelamangala toll, there was a huge traffic snarl, with many returning to the city who had left fearing the lockdown. Garment and factory workers were seen reporting to work. Nearly after 47 days of lockdown,
the government gave permission for autos and taxis to ply, with maximum two passengers, however they their worry was if they would get bookings from passengers.
With Bengaluru Urban, and 18 other districts in the state witnessing a downward curve in the cases and positivity rate gradually coming down, the Karnataka government on Saturday reviewed the situation and said they will open economic activities in a graded manner in 19 districts, however, the COVID-19 induced lockdown measures will continue in 11 districts of Karnataka. Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagara, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Belagavi, and Kodagu districts have been reporting very high positivity rate forcing the government to continue with the imposition of lockdown.
The state went under lockdown on April 27, this only after cases touched an all-time high, which caught the government completely off guard.
