1:17Now PlayingMEA has filed an affidavit at the Dominican High Court claiming that Mehul Choksi, the fugitive diamantaire, is an Indian citizen. The Ministry of Home Affairs discovered anomalies in the declaration he filed when he presented his Indian passport to the Indian High Commission in Georgetown to renounce Indian citizenship. The High Commission rejected Choksi's renunciation application in 2019 based on the MHA's recommendation, which also took into account the fact that he is an economic offender. The Ministry has requested not only that the PNB scam suspect's bail be denied, but also that he be deported to India. Listen in!
