3:28Now PlayingThe Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) appeared to be headed for a formal split Tuesday, with both Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pashupati Ram Paras claiming control and passing orders “expelling” one other. On Monday, Paras, who is also an MP, claimed the support of four of the LJP's five remaining MPs, with the exception of Chirag, and deposed Chirag as the party's legislative leader. Paras said he was "saving the party," rather than "breaking it." Chirag was dismissed as LJP chief by the Paras group on Tuesday. Chirag, for his part, convened a Zoom meeting of the LJP National Executive and announced the party's expulsion of the five "rebel" MPs. The resolution has been addressed to the Election Commission and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, according to LJP leaders.
