While hearing a plea of the Punjab and Haryana Hc over a pending plea, the SC expressed its shock that a bail plea was not even listed for a hearing for over a year. This is regarding the infamous Bhola drug case, in which the ex-President of the Municipal Council, Chunni Lal Gaba, was accused of a multi-crore drug racket. ED filed a charge sheet against him and 9 others under PMLA and several other acts. Gaba, however, was granted bail on 28th March 2020 but the ED moved the HC opposing this plea till 3rd July 2020, and Gaba has been in Judicial custody since then.
