8:04Now PlayingCalcutta High Court has decided to hand over the investigation of West Bengal’s post-poll violence to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while handing the remaining to a Special Investigation Team (SIT), both of which will be court-monitored. The order from the Calcutta High Court says that the West Bengal government is now directed to immediately processing the applications for compensation to victims. CBI and SIT are directed to submit a status report within 6 weeks. The court also referred all other cases cited by the NHRC committee to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for the probe. Three IPS officers Suman Bala Sahoo, Soumen Mitra, and Ranbir Kumar will be part of the SIT.
