While the BJP has welcomed the move of appointing non-Brahmins as priests, they have questioned the legality of the move in the state of Tamil Nadu. The priests, on the other hand, have slammed the MK Stalin government over the appointment of Non-Brahmin priests stating that the MK Stalin government is defying traditions. MK Stalin and the Tamil Nadu government have invited flak for this move. The appointed non-Brahmin priests however have now stated that any priest can perform Puja and should not necessarily be a Brahmin.
