Speaking to Mirror Now, two families who fled just two weeks ago narrate their ordeal and how they managed to flee. Pashtoon Afghan, who worked as a banker, recalls that the Taliban had started to capture parts of Kandahar when he and his family decided to leave. His relative, Haiyatullah Aijaz, worked in the military in Afghanistan. Aijaz still remembers the day his mother forced him to leave Afghanistan with his full family. Aijaz remembers the day he saw the Taliban shooting his friend in front of him. He recalls how bombs were laid on either side of the road, but he managed to avoid them and manoeuvre through. He even checked for a bomb under his vehicle.
