7:31Now PlayingA day after an unsettling incident in which a college student was gang-raped by a group of thieves in Mysuru district and her boyfriend was severely thrashed for resisting, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra sparked controversy today after making some statements on the incident. He not only used the word "rape" to describe political pressure, but he also stated the girl "should not have gone" to such a desolate location. He told reporters here that there are worries about the absence of police patrols in such areas, and that he was traveling to Mysuru to examine the issues with officials. He further accused Congress of using an "inhuman" tragedy for political advantage.
