3:02Now PlayingDeputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced today that schools in Delhi will resume on September 1 for classes 9-12 and on September 8 for classes 6-8. Parents' consent will be required, and no one will be compelled to attend. The decision was made earlier in the day at a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). The DDMA's expert group suggested that the schools be reopened in stages beginning next month. While some states began partial school reopening in October of last year, the Delhi government only allowed physical lessons for Classes 9-12 in January of this year, which were then stopped again after the disastrous second wave of COVID-19 cases.
