3:10Now PlayingThe death of a class 12 student, Lavanya, in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur has taken a political turn as her family and the BJP alleged that the girl ended her life as she was constantly being pressured to convert to Christianity. Over which, the SP said, there is no clarity on who shot the 44-second clip that is doing rounds on social media. “They asked my parents even in front of me once, 'shall I convert your daughter to Christianity, get her education?'” the girl can be heard saying in the video. But for this, police will have to first find the origin of the video that many including BJP chief K Annamalai shared. Lavanya's father Muruganantham said, "My daughter was tortured. She refused to convert, she was made to do all jobs. When she attempted suicide, the school did not inform us. The hospital informed us, even the police did not help,". However, She later named the nun, a woman identified as Rachel Mary, as her alleged harasser. She adds that the nun had asked her parents to convert Lavanya about two years ago. Lavanya M was admitted to a private hospital in Thanjavur and passed away on January 19.
