3:51Now PlayingA government decision to allow the sale of wine at grocery shops across Maharashtra will boost the biggest wine belt in India, but not everyone is celebrating the move. The 'shelf-in-shop' policy, which has been approved by the cabinet on Friday, comes with several riders. It will only be allowed at shops with a floor space of more than 1,000 sq ft and not on retail chains; there should be a distance of around 100 metres between two shops selling alcohol near religious places; there will be no advertising and above all, no sampling. The wine industry expects this will help increase wine sales by 20% to 30% due to ease of availability and help in value addition to the fruit farming in the state. Watch To Know More!
