In the sixth phase of UP elections, the voter turnout till 5 pm has been recorded at 56.70 per cent. A total of 57 assembly constituencies from 10 districts -- Kushinagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria and Ballia-- have voted today. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is contesting from his home turf Gorakhpur. The counting of votes will be held on March 10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the BJP's victory in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls is necessary to ensure that the state's journey on the path of development does not stop.
