2:47Now PlayingAmid cases of monkeypox being reported in some countries, the Centre has alerted National Centre for Disease Control and ICMR to keep a close watch on the Monkeypox Virus situation. The cases of monkeypox have been reported from nine European countries – Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom -- as well as the United States (US), Canada and Australia. The monkeypox viral infection, which causes distinctive pustules but is rarely fatal, has previously been seen in central and west Africa. The World Health Organisation has confirmed 80 cases of monkeypox in 11 countries and said they are working to better understand the extent and cause of the outbreak.
